Bạn chỉ cần chỉ hướng chung của kẻ địch và Rayne sẽ tự động ngắm vào tên đó. Nếu kẻ địch đang tiến lại gần Rayne từ 2 hướng, cô sẽ tự động ngắm cả 2 cùng một lúc. Cuối cùng, Rayne sẽ tự động bỏ những khẩu súng đã hết đạn, nghĩa là bạn không cần phải lo lắng gì đến chuyện thay vũ khí ngoài lấy 1 khẩu súng tốt hơn trong hành trang của mình.
Động cơ chính mà bạn nên dùng các vũ khí cận chiến thay cho dùng súng đó là khi cận chiến, thước đo Blood Lust của Rayne sẽ tăng lên. Hạ đủ kẻ thù bằng dao và những cú đá thì thước đo Blood Lust sẽ tăng lên, cho phép bạn kích hoạt khả năng Blood Rage (tạm dịch là máu điên). Cũng giống như Bullet time (quay chậm thời gian đi của đạn) trong Max Payne, Blood Rage đưa game vào trạng thái chậm,cho phép bạn tránh những đòn tấn công của kẻ thù và tạo những cú đánh mạnh và nhanh với con dao dài của Rayne, tăng cơ hội giảm số lượng kẻ địch nhanh chóng hơn. Nhưng so với Bullet Time của Max Payne, Blood Rage kéo dài khá lâu.
Một khía cạnh đặc biệt nữa của game đó là game không cung cấp những bình máu hay thiết bị cứu thương. Là 1 Dhampir, Rayne có thể nhảy lên hầu hết kẻ thù trong game và hút máu của chúng để tăng máu của mình lên, làm như thế đồng thời hạ kẻ địch và tăng máu của Rayne lên khá nhiều. Khả năng này cũng giống như trong Blood Omen nhưng trong Blood Omen, bạn chỉ có thể hút máu kẻ thù sau khi đã hạ chúng.Rayne còn có một cây lao móc có thể xiên những tên xấu số từ một khoảng cách khá xa rồi kéo hắn lại để hút máu. Khả năng hút máu, cộng với hệ thống tự ngắm và Blood Rage làm cho game khá dễ cho người chơi. Vì khi đó mọi kẻ địch đều trở thành bình máu di động, bạn sẽ không cần phải lo lắng gì đến việc chết đến nơi vì thiếu máu.
Blood Rayne sẽ là một game hành động ngắn với khá nhiều kẻ địch để hạ. Giao diện của game khá đơn giản và dễ hiểu làm cho game trở nên khá thú vị cho những fan game hành động đơn giản không thích bị chết liên tục.
